I just received the beautiful photos of Caitlin & Ethan's wedding this past season. The talented photographers were Armor & Martel and the waterfront location was Wychmere.
I remember when I met Caitlin and Ethan - a little voice, no a screaming voice goes off in my head alerting me that this couple is a keeper before I could even seat them. Caitlin is so sweet and gracious and Ethan - always the gentleman.

Pantone has announced their 2012 Color of the Year and it's Tangerine Tango.
I'm so excited because my brides have been using orange for a looooooong time! Spring, summer, fall...no matter the season - there is always room for a little pop or huge POW! of orange.

One of my favorite weddings last season was that of Caitlin & Ethan's. I don't have the professional pics back yet so I'll post a few quick pics that I took. Caitlin's bouquet was created with orange dahlias, roses and ranunculus.

Her Maids carried bouquets of ivory roses, hydrangea, stock and pops of orange spray roses.

The beach ceremony was primarily white and ivory with just hints of orange.

The centerpieces were two different styles - lanterns on 1/2 the tables and flowers on the other 1/2.

Can't wait for another season of orange palettes !

Wow! It's been a while since I last posted but I'm slowly winding down from a hectic wedding season. I'll try to be better :)

I want to share a wedding that Grace Ormonde Wedding Style has posted in their New England Style website - Stacy Marzilli & Ben Percia. The wedding photographer was the awesome Amy Dykens. We used over 3,000 Sahara and Vendella roses for this wedding. It was Gorgeous! I had the best time working with Stacy's mom, Peg Marzilli who meticulously planned out every detail of the celebration.

I loved Megan's bouquet. She wanted all roses with accents of stephanotis. Each bloom is individually hand-wired but they smell heavenly and are so worth the labor.

Just got home from setting up Pam & Robert's wedding at Wychmere. We were so busy because we were set for an outdoor wedding with a beautiful chuppah but then had to scramble when the sky began to darken. I was so busy that I could not adequately take pictures of all the details so I look forward to receiving the professional pics.
But here's a look at a great palette - ivory, gray and yellow with accents of navy.

I worked really hard over the past few weeks, ignoring my family as I collected and edited pictures from my past weddings. And now we're live and I'm so happy with the results. A new feature that I added was the "weddings" category showing a collection of photos in a postcard format. The viewer can get a feel for the entire wedding and not just single pictures. I get a lot of requests for flowers in the hair. I always suggest dendrobium orchids because they are feather-light, long-lasting and most importantly they have a flat backside which allows them to lay snug to your up-do.

Rachel, one of my summer brides, is getting married under an arbor. Oh how I love arbors! They provide instant visual impact and are so dramatic. She knows she wants a lot of flowers, but just not quite sure about the placement of those flowers. So I offered up a few drawings to give her options. Which version do you think she picked?

Rachel's style is classic but she wants a little of the unexpected and therefore the arbor with the asymmetrical placement of flowers is in line with her vision. Can't wait to create her ceremony site!

Wow... holidays, flowers, Santa, flowers, snow storms, flowers...I have not posted in a while.
While winter is the quiet time here on Cape Cod, I'm in full-swing again consulting with brides about their 2011 weddings. It's looking like a packed season and I love every minute of it!

I'm also re-vamping my website and while doing so, I put together a postcard of Meghan and DJ's wedding at Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. Wequassett is a beautiful waterfront resort and always a pleasure to work with.

Coordinating Bouts & Bouqs

The Holidays are in full swing and I apologize for not blogging more frequently.
I was sifting through my past photos and came upon this hot pink calla boutonniere. I love callas for bouts - they are sturdy, long lasting and hug resistant. Here is a pic of the bride's bouquet and the groom's boutonniere. Note the use of bling in both...

Here's a bout and bouquet duo for a bride who simply loved all flower types and textures - as long as they were pink :) Her groom's boutonniere matched her love of texture.

Next we have a boutonniere with a tiny starfish attached to match the bride's bouquet stem. It takes nimble fingers but the results are worth it.

Well I could go on and on but you get the drift and I've got more holiday prep to do. Take a little extra time and think about how your groom's bout can coordinate with your bouquet. He'll appreciate it!

Early this morning before I began my turkey prep, I was finishing off a business postcard I designed to hand out to prospective brides. After I finished, I found myself starring at the photo collage and smiling as I remembered preparing the flowers for Ali's wedding. She was beautiful, the flowers were beautiful and it was an amazing wedding. I just want to say how lucky I am to have such great clients and I am truly thankful to have the opportunity to work with each and every one of them.

Favorite Fall Palette & Wild Bunch Studio

One of my favorite color palettes for Fall is crimson/ruby, ivory, pink and a dash of dark green. Here's a peek at last weekend's bouquets all wrapped and ready for delivery.

Abby's bouquet was designed with white roses, lisianthus, freesia and cymbidium orchids (which are difficult to find in my amateur photography.) You can see a bit of ruby-colored astilbe peeking out which was used to create a collar under the blooms. Almost like wearing a petticoat... The ruby astilbe was the exact color of the Maids' dresses so it was a nice visual connection between the Bride and Maids.

Below we have some of the Maids' bouquets. You can see the full palette. Lots of roses, spray roses, astilbe, naked-seeded eucalyptus and lisianthus. It's eye-candy for me!

Here's a quick pic of one of my favorite bouquets created from Cymbidium and Lady Slipper orchids with a little accent from white freesia.
It's a labor intensive bouquet to make because each orchid needs to be hand-wired so that it has a stem - but it's gorgeous when done! This is Meghan's bouquet and I'll be sharing all her beautiful pics taken by photographer-extraordinaire Amy Dykens in the very near future.

Pretty-Up Them Stems!

Photographers love to take pictures of your bouquet so take this opportunity to "pretty-up" your bouquet stems. Personalize your bouquet.

Several of my brides provide me with charms, lockets and bling to tuck up under the blooms. I often use remnants from Mom's or Grandma's wedding dress to embellish the stems. Some brides ask me to use feathers so I create a petticoat under the blooms - which I love. And many simply provide me with a gorgeous ribbon or fabric that they found on their travels.

So take a moment and think about your bouquet and how you can truly make it yours!

Here is a sneak peak of Meghan's centerpieces. Her palette is ivory, chartreuse and a hint of pale yellow.

Meghan has chosen two styles of centerpieces to keep the dining room dynamic. Centerpieces in single glass vases and centerpieces in break-away vases.

This is a close-up of a centerpiece built in a 5" x 5" square glass vase.

Love that big fat dahlia!

This is a pic of her break-away centerpieces in which the centerpiece consist of three vases. So for example, on a table will sit a vase of white stock (background), a vase of green spider mums (left) and a vase of white roses (front).

What's In the Cooler

This past weekend we were up to our eyeballs in flowers so I thought I'd share our clients' diverse color palettes.

First are Laura's Maids bouquets in the rough. We haven't wrapped the stems yet in a gorgeous turquoise ribbon. Her palette was magenta, hot pink and turquoise. These bouquets are made from stock and spray roses. Very simple but very visual with a bit of pow!

Next are Angela's centerpieces of pink, green and blue with dashes of yellow.

Next on our list is Jenny's blue, ivory and green color palette -

again with a little hint of yellow in the rose centers.

And last is Stacy's ivory and blush palette using only roses. Gorgeous!

What a weekend.

I was dizzy with exhaustion yet so lucky to work with wonderful brides!

Have you ever seen hot coral? Well either had I until I met my bride Melissa. She loved color with a capital "C" and I believe she took coral to a new level! Her palette was hot coral, hot pink and chartreuse. POW! No kidding, just look at these pictures taken by the Morin's Studio Photography.

Melissa's bouquet was created with peony, calla lily, roses, spray roses, stock, gladiolus and button mums.

The Maids carried bouquets of large ivory calla lily.

I never got the pleasure of meeting Michael but he looks like a keeper to me!

I picked these gorgeous pale yellow garden roses from my garden as my inspiration for this bouquet. I paired the roses up with a few leftovers from my last wedding and wow! I love the color palette and the end result. I find this little bouquet quite beautiful with its orchids, calla lilies, lisianthus and roses.

The little bouquet sits quietly on my desk bringing me such pleasure. I figure I have just a few days to admire its beauty before the garden roses begin to sadly fade.

While I'm waiting for professional pictures from weddings of the past weeks, I want to share a wedding I did last summer before I started this blog. Nicole and Andrew were married at the waterfront beautiful Wychmere Harbor Club in Harwich, Massachusetts.
Nicole wanted color, color and more color. Nothing less than a bold statement. I had the best time creating her flowers!

This is her color palette.

Here is a pic of the Maids' bouquets all wrapped in their basket for delivery. Photographs are courtesy of Whitney Fox from emilie inc. Fabulous eye-candy. Very simple flowers yet very effective. You don't need to order exotic and pricey flowers to create a beautiful bouquet. I used bright orange and pink roses, dahlia, alstroemeria and green hypericum which added the right amount of pop!.

Nicole's bouquet was made from ivory, hot pink and orange roses, orange lilies, green hypericum and gardenia (which you cannot see in this pic but I love gardenia).

Here's a pic of the boutonnieres. Love the little blue delphinium accent to complement the Maids' dresses.

Nicole and Andrew were married under a birch arbor.

Now that the I-do's are complete, it's time to celebrate!

Nicole and Andrew love candy...so they came up with little pots of candy for the escort card table. Yum! Such a sweet way to guide your guests to their table.

I really loved Nicole's and Andrew's centerpieces. We used two heights to prevent repetition. Doesn't matter how beautiful your centerpieces are...if you have a room filled with the identical centerpieces over and over... b-o-r-i-n-g! Not Nicole and Andrew's flowers. To add a little element of surprize, we even put a chinese beta fish in each of the tall glass trumpet vases.

...and they lived happily ever after !

I am very lucky to not only work with great brides and grooms who are holding their celebration at top-notch luxury resorts such as Chatham Bars Inn but to also provide the venue with their weekly Lobby and Dining Room floral displays.

It keeps me on my toes and is quite a challenge. Unlike weddings, where I work to have a flower's bloom at its showiest peak for the wedding day - the hotel flowers need to be beautiful everyday, withstand touching from hotel guests and last for upwards of 5-7 days. Orchids and roses are my favorite because they have staying power.

Last weekend, I delivered Nicole's wedding flowers with camera in hand. Here is a sneak peek.

Nicole's palette was white on white with touches of green. Very fresh and clean - just love it. We used the last of the fading spring flowers - tulips and lilac. They are here for such a short time and

need to be enjoyed to their fullest.

Nicole wanted a calla lily bouquet with touches of white lilac which reminded her of her grandmother.

The men wore mini white calla boutonnieres.

And the Maids each carried a bouquet of crisp white tulips.

Her centerpieces were a mix of tulips, hydrangea, roses, snapdragons and lilac.

Coral Wedding - flowers by Wild Bunch Studio

This past weekend, I was in heaven working with one of my favorite color palettes - corals, peaches and chartreuse. Melissa and Micheal's reception was held in the Ballroom at Ocean Edge Resort.

Here is a sneak peak of her flowers taken by me.
Melissa's Bouquet all wrapped in its delivery basket. The Maids' bouquets are gorgeous white calla lillies tucked up in the right side of the photo.

We used three different designs for the 22 dining tables to provide the most visual impact - low apothecary jars, low floral arrangements and pedestal arrangements. Here are some pics in the studio.

Maid's Bouquet by Wild Bunch Studio

This weekend, my bride Tricia stopped by and we played with the Maids' bouquets. The girls are wearing the most beautiful gray dresses and to complement their outfits, Tricia has chosen a color palette of cobalt blue, white and gray.

The bouquet is very clean and fresh. Flowers include a base of cobalt blue hydrangea from Holland, white stock, hyacinth, lisianthus, plenty of freesia and a few sprigs of silvery eucalyptus.

I'm just loving this tidy little bouquet and look forward to preparing all the flowers for Tricia's wedding at the beautiful ocean-front resort Chatham Bars Inn.

Bouquet Preview & Wild Bunch Studio

A few days back, my bride Melissa came to my studio for a bouquet preview. I offer this service because it's a great way for the bride to see her bouquet prior to the big day so that she can make any floral adjustments she feels is necessary. Melissa is getting married in a month and holding her reception in the beautiful ballroom at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club. Her flower palette is coral, chartreuse with hints of raspberry.

Take a look at what's in the fridge... assorted roses, calla lilies, green button mums, stock and gerberas.

This is what I refer to as bouquet "sketch". It's not all perfectly shaped and its stems are not wrapped. The bouquet is simply a loose gathering of the intended flowers and is meant to be fiddled with.

These gerberas are so happy...

In the end, Melissa decided to nix the gerberas. They are beautiful but they just weren't working for her. And now she is perfectly happy with her flower choices and palette.

I'm off to Sanibel Florida for two weeks with my family.

Yeah! We've had a tough winter here in New England and I'm looking forward to visiting Grandma and Grandpa and complaining about how hot I am.

Caitlin and Doug were a fun couple. Their vision was comfortable elegance - kick off your shoes beach ceremony and then party with all the creature comforts the ocean front Wychmere Harbor Club has to offer. I loved doing the flowers. Caitlin chose a flower palette of ivory, green and a shot of hot pink

Here is Caitlin's lovely bouquet... designed with baby green hydrangea, roses and orchids making for loads of texture...

And here are the Maids' bouquets all wrapped up and pretty in their delivery basket.

Caitlin wanted a little hair accent so I always suggest blossoms of dendrobium orchids. They are light as a feather and will lay flat against your hair style.

Off we go to get married...

Here are pics of the beach decor. Very simple yet lovely. This altar arrangement of lily grass is so beautiful and has become very popular with my brides. The arrangement waits quietly by the pillar before it is set in place...

Once we got into the reception space, we added the blue of her palette to the flowers. I always suggest 'amping-up' the color palette for the reception flowers because it adds an element of visual surprise for your guests.

One of my favorite shots of all weddings is the photo of Maids' bouquets after they have done their job. The bouquets have worked hard to look lovely, the Maids are off party-ing and the bouquets rest quietly...

And as a parting shot, here is a pic of the happy couple.

Ali & David and flowers by Wild Bunch Studio

One of the most memorable weddings for me to create the flowers for was Ali and David's Chatham wedding. Ali and her mom Elaine didn't miss any opportunities to make this wedding endlessly beautiful. I keep saying...It's all about the details! And boy did these ladies hit a home run.

The color palette was pale pink, peach, ivory and accents of pale yellow and green.

One of my absolute favorite palettes.

Thanks to the photo pros Paul Morse and Ralph Alswang this wedding was brilliantly documented.

Ali's bouquet was created with peony (tucked on the other side of the bouquet), hydrangea, roses, freesia, astilbe and dendrobium orchid blossoms.

I love to personalize the stems of bouquets and all brides should think about doing so. It makes your bouquet so much more personal. Ali's bouquet was wrapped with beaded fabric from her Mother's wedding dress and accented with a small framed photo of her deceased father. This bouquet had so much love attached to it that I couldn't keep from crying when I was putting it together.

Next the Maids. Gorgeous, all of them!

The I do's are over and the happy couple is beaming.

Time to celebrate!

We made simple little cocktail table accents of roses and astilbe. Very sweet.

And this Escort Card Tree was my brain child as I was walking my dog past Ali's house one morning. There it was, this big gorgeous tree right between the cocktail area and dining tent. Perfect! I told Elaine about my idea and she went to town with it. The tiny clothes pins are absolutely wonderful. I embellished the wrapping with pale pink dendrobium blossoms.Love, love love the whole visual. Again...details!

Each centerpiece was built in a different silver vessel that Ali and Elaine had collected for months prior to the wedding.

Blue seems to be a recurring color in several of my weddings so I wanted to share a few pics with you from Susan and John's wedding.

The blue hydrangeas are absolutely gorgeous!

The ceremonial arrangements gracefully swayed in the wind. I couldn't ask for a better photo.

...just love the masses of dark blue delphinium.

We painted the galvi buckets varying tones of blue to give them a bit of pop! It's all in the details - that's what makes a wedding memorable. So go the extra mile...

Now for the reception flowers - there were two very large fireplaces from which we hung buckets of flowers. Here we added a smidgen of purple and yellow to our blue palette to keep it dynamic.

Before entering the dining room, the guests stopped off at this very creative escort card table. We layed blue sea glass and the MOB crafted every escort card and attached them to scallop shells. That's a labor of love and it looks great. Again...it's all in the details!

We hung votive candles from our centerpieces to add extra glow.

It was a truly beautiful wedding set at the water's edge. I love the comfortable elegance that Cape Cod affords us.

I want to share a beautiful wedding that was published in the Grace Ormonde Wedding Style New England publication. Sarah and Ufuk were delightful customers with a flair for celebration. Their wedding celebration started on the bluffs of the Atlantic Ocean where they took their vows...moved to the Wianno Club where they wined and dined their guests...then to an after-hours party to dance the night away.

Sarah and Ufuk took their vows under a beautiful arbor loaded with orange and hot pink flowers - Pow!

Oh I just loved laying down the fresh rose petal aisle.

Each guest received a flower with the ceremony program...every single chair was decorated. It looked very cool.

Even Pluto the dog wore flowers...

Once the I do's were done, the guests moved to the Wianno Club.

So often, brides tell me they don't know the names of flowers. But that's okay because it's my job to know the flowers and your job to tell me what you like. So, once a week I will dissect a bouquet and help you figure out what's what. This is Chloe's pink bouquet. Each of her Maids carried a bouquet of a single flower type with each flower being represented in Chloe's bouquet. Let's take a look.

All of these flowers are great summer flowers but remember when your bouquet is not in use - place it in a glass filled with a bit of water to give it a little drink and keep it looking fresh.

Adina & Noah - Gorgeous Ivory/Green Flowers by Wild Bunch Studio

The green and ivory flowers for the wedding party and ceremony looked crisp and fresh - perfect for a May wedding. Check out this beautiful chuppah. Oh how I love a boatload of flowers!

Below is a close up of the chuppah. We used hydrangea, roses, bells and lilies. It's hard to see in this pic but the chuppah infrastructure is built from birch rails. Love it.

And more... the Maids' bouquets were made of baby green hydrangeas, roses, stock, lisianthus and apple green hypericum...

We added a touch of blue in the reception flowers.
